SENSING THE DEEP
A Multisensory Deep-Sea Excursion With Literature and Science
Who has known the ocean? […] To sense this world of waters known to the creatures of the sea we must shed our human perceptions of length and breadth and time and place, and enter vicariously into a universe of all-pervading water. — Rachel Carson, Undersea, 1937
A journey into the deep sea and into our perception: In an experimental deep listening session, TA T Curator Felix Sattler brings together literature, science, and sound as a multisensory deep-sea excursion.
What to expect
Together, we descend from the surface to the ocean floor, following evocative passages of deep-sea writing. An originally composed immersive soundscape unfolds as a slow downward spiral, while meditative prompts invite audiences to deepen perception and imagination. The result is a sensory approach to more-than-human ecologies.
Duration: Approximately 1 hour.
Presented in German language.
